Pelvic pain and mental health. We all have a story.

I’m a happy duck. I’m a happy person, with my ups and downs, but nothing that really defines as something more than just being a normal person. But it hasn’t always been like this.  Years ago I struggled with really bad anxiety and depression, due to what I’ve been through mentally and physically. To be depressed people seem to think that something REALLY bad must have happened to you. Nothing has to happen to you, you can be depressed or have anxiety without knowing why. And that’s okay.  I’m in pain. The sort of pain that affects you mentally and physically. The sort of pain that can make you not…

    Prioritize this for your health

Everyone is talking about it, but let’s be honest, it’s not a priority is it? It’s boring, and it’s not an easy thing to deal with if you’re in a lot of pain. I used to dread going to sleep, because I knew the next day I would just wake up feeling shitty and still in pain. But the body is so much more complex than just focusing on one specific area (such as the vulva). We always look for a quick fix for whatever we suffer from – that one cream that will take away all of the pain, the supplement that is gonna change everything, the fitness class…

    Breathe for better health

And everyone’s like: “Yeah… we all already breathe?” – But I’m talking about actually BREATHING here! HAPPY MONDAY Y’ALL! The focus on breathing is highly underestimated I must say. The POWER breathing has on your body is amazing! I got into yoga about 5 years ago, but it wasn’t until last year I really started paying attention to my breathing, and boy it’s such an amazing tool for my healing, both mentally and physically.  Many people do yoga only to get a good workout, but breathing is such an important tool as well. Anyone who comes to my yoga classes knows how much time I spend talking about breathing, and…

Incorporate this into your morning routine for less pain

We all probably wake up stiff, and either we have a hard time getting out of bed because mentally we are not really ready, or we are just in so much pain that we’d rather stay in bed than face the day ahead. I want to help you start your day off fresh and maybe a little less pain free, by bringing more awareness into the body with some slow movements. Doing some light stretches in the morning can help tremendously, and for these ones you don’t even have to get out of bed! You are basically just rolling around in bed, too easy! Just lie on your back and…

No ‘New Year, New Me’ bullshit

Happy 2020! Finally a new year, and finally a new decade. Every new year I have this feeling of freshness. I’m not a big new year’s fan but I like the idea of a new year. Anything is possible (though, it always is)! And this feeling of freshness is often disturbed by all the things I read online, things I hear on the radio or from clients. We all believe anything is possible, but it often has to do with our looks, or how we have to change ourselves to fit in to this little box that we call society. Going to a fitness class this time of year and…

I’m in control of my own health

Taking control of our own health, that’s what we’re doing this year. Nothing else. We won’t let society, influencers or loud people decide what we’re supposed to do with our bodies, how we are supposed to look, feel, workout, eat, think, etc. and we won’t let doctors have the final word on how we are supposed to feel, do, heal, or just accept. I speak to so many women whom are devastated because either their doctor refuses to do a biopsy, or the doctor doesn’t tell them anything about their condition. Which ends up with us, you, me, the mama trying to help her little girl, walking out of the…

From me to all of you: Have A Merry (stress-free) Christmas!

The holidays are here, and the stress surrounding it is probably visiting as well! Stress is one of my biggest triggers for a massive flare-up. Many things play a part in my flare-ups, and sometimes it’s hard to tell which one is which – but stress is definitely one! Stress from going everywhere – being on time, spending time with family (God we love em’, but if you’re a lone wolf, introvert, or just simply need your alone-time it can be a freaking nightmare), getting in the car too quickly (whoops! A tear!), fighting with people in the grocery store – you get the picture. Stress we put on ourselves…

Chronic pain syndrome without an identifiable cause

For those of you who don’t follow me on Instagram might not know that I also suffer from Vulvodynia, same as many of you who are in this space. Vulvodynia is known as a chronic pain syndrome that affects the vulvar area and occurs without an identifiable cause. The symptoms can be burning, stinging, irritation or sharp pain around on the vulva as well as at the entrance of the vagina. It is not a sexually transmitted disease. It is often too painful to have sex, use tampons or even be lightly touched. My first time having sex it was like hitting a f*cking wall. Seriously. It’s kind of funny…

    Cashew and pumpkin seed bar

I am not a cook, and I’m definitely not a baker – but sometimes you just happen to make something delicious and you just want to share it with everyone! The other week I thought I’d make some “healthy” bars to help me through long days at work, and also something that is beneficially for my body. This bar contains heaps of healthy fats which are good for the skin, hormones and for the brain! Makes about 10 bars: Ingredients: 2 cups cashews 2 cups oats 1 cup pumpkin seeds 15 soaked pitted dates 2 tbsp raw cacao 2 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil Maybe a little bit of water…
