No ‘New Year, New Me’ bullshit

Happy 2020! Finally a new year, and finally a new decade. Every new year I have this feeling of freshness. I’m not a big new year’s fan but I like the idea of a new year. Anything is possible (though, it always is)! And this feeling of freshness is often disturbed by all the things I read online, things I hear on the radio or from clients. We all believe anything is possible, but it often has to do with our looks, or how we have to change ourselves to fit in to this little box that we call society. Going to a fitness class this time of year and…

I’m in control of my own health

Taking control of our own health, that’s what we’re doing this year. Nothing else. We won’t let society, influencers or loud people decide what we’re supposed to do with our bodies, how we are supposed to look, feel, workout, eat, think, etc. and we won’t let doctors have the final word on how we are supposed to feel, do, heal, or just accept. I speak to so many women whom are devastated because either their doctor refuses to do a biopsy, or the doctor doesn’t tell them anything about their condition. Which ends up with us, you, me, the mama trying to help her little girl, walking out of the…

From me to all of you: Have A Merry (stress-free) Christmas!

The holidays are here, and the stress surrounding it is probably visiting as well! Stress is one of my biggest triggers for a massive flare-up. Many things play a part in my flare-ups, and sometimes it’s hard to tell which one is which – but stress is definitely one! Stress from going everywhere – being on time, spending time with family (God we love em’, but if you’re a lone wolf, introvert, or just simply need your alone-time it can be a freaking nightmare), getting in the car too quickly (whoops! A tear!), fighting with people in the grocery store – you get the picture. Stress we put on ourselves…

    Cashew and pumpkin seed bar

I am not a cook, and I’m definitely not a baker – but sometimes you just happen to make something delicious and you just want to share it with everyone! The other week I thought I’d make some “healthy” bars to help me through long days at work, and also something that is beneficially for my body. This bar contains heaps of healthy fats which are good for the skin, hormones and for the brain! Makes about 10 bars: Ingredients: 2 cups cashews 2 cups oats 1 cup pumpkin seeds 15 soaked pitted dates 2 tbsp raw cacao 2 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil Maybe a little bit of water…

“I have a f*cked up vulva, what do you have for that?”

Don’t give away your power. When you struggle with pain or a chronic condition you just want someone to help you, and it’s so easy to give away your power to someone else, a doctor, or any health professional really. But you must not forget that you have the power to decide over your own body, don’t give it away. I get so many messages from you ladies terrified about what’s happening to your body, which I am too. You are terrified about the fact that the only thing they prescribed you was a steroid cream that has the same side effects as the symptoms of Lichen Sclerosus. But this…

Hearty apple crumble for either breakfast or dessert

Fall is here – no need to dwell,  the delicious apples are here as well! See what I did there, hu? Went to the farmers markets the other week and got myself a big bag of apples that there was NO way I was gonna finish in time before they would go bad. So apple crumble it was. I am a big fan of breakfast and it’s my favorite part of the day (sad or not? That is the question). So I knew that I wanted to make an apple crumbled that I could eat for breakfast and eat as dessert – another favorite part of the day. So this…

Ain’t nothing simpler than veggie tomato sauce

Making a tomato based sauce is something that always comes first to mind when I don’t know what to make. I just go through the fridge to see what I can come across, and then I basically just through everything together in a pan! And yesterday I made a really yummy one that I wanted to share with you, just in case you’re out of imagination today, next week or for the rest of the year! A great way to increase your veggie and fibre intake, and we want all of that in our bodies – like I mention in the Well-being for Lichen Sclerosus Info-graphic! If you don’t have…

    Lichen Sclerosus & Maca root

I’m always trying to find new, natural ways to help my Lichen Sclerosus, and one thing that has popped up is Maca. Maca is a native plant, a herb, grown in Peru. I never knew anything about Maca, and why it is good for you – but then I went to a health food store where a lovely lady introduced me to it. And since you all know that I am very open about most stuff, including my lovely yoni (life wouldn’t be as fun without it), I asked her what I could use for my vaginal issues and she introduced me to Maca. Currently I cannot find any research…

    Pelvic pain & oxalates

When I went to my exercise physiologist for pelvic pain she lent me this book written about pelvic pain, can’t remember what is was called though? So if someone out there reads these types of books, please send me a DM with the titles. Because it was SO good and informative – and I wish they would have given this to me when I was twenty, because o’boy would that have helped me! Anyway, in this book I read about oxalates for the first time – and that they May have an impact on pelvic pain. Oxalates are present in the body, but they are also found in food such…

For what reason do you eat?

For what reason do you eat? This might seem like a basic question to most of you, but is it really? Yes, we eat to stay alive, but I believe we eat for different reasons. Maybe you eat to honor your body. Maybe you eat because you don’t like it (or the lack of eating). Maybe you eat to heal your body, mentally or physically. Maybe you eat to overcome a trauma, a breakup or your depression. Maybe you eat to fuel your body for a workout or a competition. Maybe you have a goal. Maybe you don’t. Maybe you don’t think about what you eat at all. Maybe you…
